Since his inception in the late 1920’s Winnie the Pooh has become a worldwide phenomenon, featuring countless books and adaptations throughout the characters’ existence. Throughout this time, the story has never been told about how author A.A Milne came to create the lovable bear–until now. ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin‘ tells the semi-true story of how Milne (Domhnall Gleeson) used his son, also named Christopher Robin, as inspiration for the world of Winnie the Pooh. As the books grow in popularity, the complications of success permeate back into Milne’s family life.
Based on the trailer, the film seems poised to garner a decent amount of awards season buzz, and Domhnall Gleeson’s performance seems to be one to keep an eye on this fall season. Directed by Simon Curtis (My Week With Marilyn), the script was written by Frank Cottrell-Boyce and Simon Vaughan. The film was produced by Damian Jones and Steve Christian. In addition to Gleeson, the cast includes Margot Robbie, Kelly Macdonald, Will Tilston.
