KESHA Makes a Statement on MTV VMAs, “Light Will Break Through The Darkness” introducing Logic

Kesha made a very special statement before introducing Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid to the stage at the MTV VMAs. Kesha says “It has been said that if you knew who walked beside you, you could never experience fear or death again. Every so often a song and a video come along, that lets us know how true that is. The moving piece of film and song that is the video for “1-800-273-8255” brought me to tears. The truth is piercing and the truth is what matters and the truth is that none of us are alone. It takes great courage to show the vulnerable side of being a human, and we all have that vulnerable side, whatever you are going through there is an undeniable truth and strength in the fact that you are not alone, we all have struggles and as long as we never give up on ourselves, light will break through the darkness. The national suicide prevention hotline is available to you 24/7, if you are in crisis or concerned about someone who might be. Now to walk along side all of us are suicide attempt survivors and loss survivors, I present Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid” introducing Logic to the state to perform “1-800-273-8255” surrounded by suicide survivors.

The opening lines of Logic‘s most successful song to date are literally a cry for help, where he says “I’ve been on the low, I been taking my time, I feel like I’m out of my mind, It feel like my life ain’t mine, Who can relate?” The title of the track, “1-800-273-8255,” is the actual phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. This song is written to create awareness for Suicide Awareness, especially with the current state of the music industry where it seems to have become a trend. Listen to Logic’s incredible speech below as well.
