Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment have unveiled a bunch of new high resolution images from ‘Blade Runner 2049‘ to help promote the film’s release. Recently, we’ve seen 2 prequel shorts– ‘2036: Nexus Dawn‘ and ‘2048: Nowhere to Run‘– and with a little over a week left until the film’s release, these images couldn’t have come at a better time. Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario) and written by Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Alien: Covenant), the film takes place 30 years after the the events of the original ‘Blade Runner‘.
Here’s the official synopsis for ‘Blade Runner 2049‘:
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Warners have been incredibly tight lipped throughout the marketing of the film, we can finally get a more detailed look into the film. The vibrant images that cinematographer Rodger Deakins and Villeneuve were able to create seem to be absolutely stunning. Not to mention the incredibly detailed production design by Dennis Gassner and costuming by Renée April that help to sell the realism of the film’s world.
Although these images don’t reveal much about storyline, they are a great primer for all of the goodness that ‘Blade Runner 2049‘ is sure to provide when it’s released on next week. The film stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Dave Bautista, Barkhad Abdi, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Lennie James, and Mackenzie Davis.
