Opening the show was some heavy hitting rap artists such as Lil Panda, NAV, and Gucci Mane, who set the show for an adrenaline boosting night.
The Grammy-Award Winning Artist, The Weeknd launching his 90 minute set with the title track and first single “Starboy” off his third studio album, Starboy. His stage introduction included a very dark and moody launch to the stage in which he appeared to be inside of a rotating pink/blue laser that made the image of an alien abduction. His set stayed with very moody lighting perfectly fitting each song that he was able to perform. His voice often being compared to the likes of Michael Jackson and for a very good reason, this is because his voice is truly angelic and unique on every single song he sings and this shines at his live shows in which he belts out the lyrics to all of his songs with a fierce sincerity and a smile on his face as the fans knew every word. His confidence on stage and genuine gratitude toward his fans were able to be displayed throughout his entire show, not to mention showcase his best work with a flawless production perfectly matching each song performed. His live show is a very captivating show to watch, with very unique exquisite production. Which included an Imperial Star Destroyer look-a-like tilting stage top which hovered above his catwalk, which stretched nearly the entire length of the Wells Fargo Center arena. Leading all the back to his “VIP” riser in which his guests are able to watch from, in Philadelphia this evening it just so happened to include his girlfriend Selena Gomez, who was dancing and singing along to every single song showing her dedication and support to her boyfriend.
His powerful fierce captivating performance is one you do not want to miss out on seeing. You are guaranteed to love his show, and hear all of your favorite The Weeknd hits and if you are a die hard fan you will be even more thrilled as he performed a variety of songs on his setlist including songs from his latest release of Starboy, but also songs from Trilogy, Kiss Land and Beauty Behind The Madness. Including a massive sing-a-long to his hit single “I Can’t Feel My Face” in which he swung his mic around like a baseball bat to show which section of the crowd should be singing along the loudest. He performed a song from the Fifty Shades Of Grey Soundtrack called “Earned It” and he even reached back to his House of Balloons mixtape for a spin through “Wicked Games.” Ending his performance with smash hit “The Hills” which had fans screaming the lyrics back to him. The Weeknd definitley left the stage leaving fans extremely satisfied with flawless beyond perfect vocals, his constant on-stage movement/interactions with the fans, and fantastic production which made for one of the best shows we have attended this year.
