20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for their next superhero franchise The New Mutants. From the looks of it, Fox is taking their X-franchise into a whole different direction. Check out the trailer below and see if you agree.
Never have I ever been freaked out by a trailer for a superhero film. It definitely looks like Fox is going with a horror feel and I think that’s perfect. The fact that Fox and director Josh Boone decided to go with a horror feel helps set this new team apart from the original X-Men franchise. It’s also surprising to see Boone go from directing a sad love story (The Fault in Our Stars) to something completely opposite. It shows how diverse of a director he can be.
The New Mutants stars Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Anya Taylor-Joy (Split), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Alice Braga (Elysium), Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) and Blu Hunt (The Originals). The film is written and directed by Josh Boone. Produced by Simon Kinberg, Karen Rosenfelt and Lauren Shuler Donner.
No official synopsis has been given and the film is not yet rated.
The New Mutants hits theaters April 13, 2018.
