Fox Searchlight has released the final trailer for ‘The Shape of Water‘ and it is absolutely fabulous. Guillermo del Toro‘s latest fairy tale follows Sally Hawkins’ Elisa, a mute janitor who works in a high security government facility during the 1960’s cold war era. When a mysterious Fish Man (Doug Jones) is captured, Elisa begins to create a special friendship with the creature that upsets Michael Shannon‘s Colonel Richard Strickland, creating dire circumstances for the unlikely duo.
Based on this trailer alone, ‘The Shape of Water‘ is primed to be a major awards contender. The previous trailers and clip that we’ve seen from the film have pretty much mind blowing. The performances, production design, and direction all look amazing. This film seems like Del Toro in top from, providing many of the fantasy elements that have made him so prominent. Simply put, I can’t wait to explore the mysteries that the film provides. ‘The Shape of Water‘ also stars Octavia Spencer, Richard Jenkins, and the always incredible Michael Stuhlbarg opens on December 1st with a wide release to follow in the following weeks.
Here’s the final trailer, along with the official synopsis below:
