At the ‘Doctor Who’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con International today, BBC AMERICA revealed the first teaser footage for the brand new season. The upcoming eleventh season of ‘Doctor Who‘ featuring not only a whole new cast, but but the first female doctor in Jodie Whittaker. Along for the ride this time are co-stars Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole. Offering a taste of what’s in store for viewers this fall, the trailer sees the Doctor and her new friends, Ryan Sinclair (Cole), Yasmin Khan (Gill) and Graham O’Brien (Walsh), traveling through space and time.
As someone who has dabbled in watching ‘Doctor Who‘ episodes in the past, but is also extremely intimidated by the sheer amount of lore that the show has built up over it’s 50 year history, it’s refreshing to see this new season as more of a straight reboot. Although the series is sure to keep within the multitude of tropes that ‘Doctor Who’ has acquired over the years, this trailer is really exciting. Ultimately, it’s refreshing to see a new spin on the character with Whittaker’s interpretation of the beloved character.
The Thirteenth Doctor is on her way! Tune in to BBC AMERICA this fall for more on the series. In the meantime, you can find the official teaser trailer & poster below:
