Gerard Way Releases Art For New ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Series

It has been nine years since comic readers have last seen Gerard Way‘s and Gabriel Bá‘s “The Umbrella Academy” on the pages of a full series. The goth superhero team from former My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way was a hit with fans back when it debuted with publisher Dark Horse Comics in 2007. The series ran for two story arcs with some short stories released in various trade paperbacks and Free Comic Book Day issues. The duo of Way and Bá are back at it again with the third story arch in the series which is titled “Hotel Oblivion”.

Both Way and Bá took to Instagram to release cover art for the series.

“Hotel Oblivion” will deal with the now divided superhero team as Spaceboy is in Tokyo, while his former love interest Rumor copes with the failure of her first marriage. Kraken is once again on a lone mission, while Number Five works as a hired gun. Vanya aka White Violin, is still coping from her wounds. As for Seance, he apparently doesn’t show up until the second issue.

The timing of the third series seems like great timing because of the live-action Netflix series of the same name has been in production. “Hotel Oblivion” will be seven issues long and will hit comic book shelves Oct. 3, 2018.

EW has also released the first pages of the upcoming issue.
