Sony has released a new image from the upcoming ‘Venom‘ solo film, and it features the symbiote front and center. Although the history of a character is in inexorably linked to the character of Spider-Man. Sony is attempting to start up an off-shoot universe that will focus multiple Spider-Man villains, with ‘Venom‘ being the first. Even though Spider-Man is rumored to make some sort of an appearance, it seems that this film will focus solely on the titular character. We’ve already seen two trailers for the film, but the marketing has been decidedly Venom-free–that is until now.
In anticipation on the film’s San Diego Comic Con 2018 presence, EW has a duo of images, including a great new look at the symbiote in close-up and a new scene between Tom Hardy‘s Eddie Brock and Riz Ahmed‘s character (shown above). Here’s the new image of the symbiote:

Director Ruben Fleischer also echoed the sentiment about the duality that is inherent in the character, noting that:
In addition to Hardy and Ahmed, ‘Venom‘ also stars Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson and Jenny Slate. Even though the film opens in theaters on October 5, 2018, make sure to check back soon as more info is revealed about the film in the coming weeks.
