‘The Hangover’ Actor Brody Stevens, Dead at 48 of Apparent Suicide

TMZ first reported that ‘The Hangover’ Actor Brody Stevens was found dead in his Los Angeles, CA home on Friday (Feb. 22) after an apparent suicide. Law enforcement sources confirmed to TMZ that Brody Stevens was found hanging in his home shortly after 1PM on Friday.

“Brody was an inspiring voice who was a friend to many in the comedy community. He pushed creative boundaries and his passion for his work and his love of baseball were contagious,” the departed comic’s rep told The Blast in a statement. “He was beloved by many and will be greatly missed. We respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

Sources close to Stevens’ circle told The Blast that “in the last few months he was very devoted to his mother in Palm Springs.” The Blast was also told that “he had also confided in friends recently that he took himself off his medications because he felt they ‘dulled’ his creativity as a comic.”

Brody Stevens, a stand-up comedian and co-creator of Comedy Central series, ‘Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!’ with his friend and ‘The Hangover’ co-star Zach Galifianakis. Known for his stand-up comedy, He regularly performed at clubs around Los Angeles, including The Comedy Store. Stevens was seen in both ‘The Hangover‘ installments one and two, appeared on Chelsea Handler’s ‘Chelsea Lately‘, as well as in the film, ‘Due Date.’

Stevens had struggled with his mental health in the past, and was hospitalized in 2011 after suffering from a bipolar episode. Brody was 48 years old, RIP.
