Everyone is on the edge of their seats awaiting the release of the upcoming “Lord Of The Rings” series prequel which will be coming to Amazon in the near future. It was originally reported that filming for the series would be taking place in Scotland, however that has now changed and filming will definitely be taking place in New Zealand for the upcoming series.
Keep in mind, New Zealand also happens to be the area in which the incredibly popular “Lord Of The Rings” film franchise was filmed as well. The change was a result of lengthy negotiations between Jeff Bezos’ billion-dollar company and the New Zealand government. The reason for the decision has to do with insurance matters. Before launching the 1.5 billion dollar production process, a record in the industry, which is set to create thousands of jobs, Amazon needed certain assurances.
Although part of the series will be filmed in the Highlands, the NZHerald has confirmed that the main film set will be located in New Zealand. The Prime Minister of the country herself, Jacinda Ardern, is reported to have negotiated the juicy contract with Jeff Bezos. A source at the newspaper confirmed that pre-production work has already begun at the studios of Auckland Film and Kumeu Film and that a third studio could soon be built near Queenstown.
