Harry Styles Confirmed to Play Prince Eric in Disney’s The Little Mermaid Live-Action Remake

Harry Styles has reportedly been confirmed to play Prince Eric in Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, according to The DisInsider and fans are ecstatic about the news!

As previously announced, Halle Bailey has been casted in the lead role as Ariel in the live-action remake of the 1989 classic film, Disney’s Little Mermaid. Melissa McCarthy will reportedly take the role of Ursula, the villainous sea witch. Javier Bardem is in talks to play Ariel’s father King Triton  Melissa McCarthy, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina who are circling Ursula, Ariel’s best friend Flounder, and Scuttle.

Prince Eric is the human love interest for Ariel. After saving him from drowning, Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to exchange her voice for legs in order for a chance to make Eric fall in love with her.

The live-action remake of this Disney classic animated film will begin production early next year (2020), and will be helmed by stage/screen director Rob Marshall. It will feature the original film score by composer Alan Menken, as well as new tunes co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. David Magee will pen the script for the remade film.

Styles made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, which grossed over $526 million worldwide and He recently tested for the lead role in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic, but the part ended up going to Austin Butler. However, that didn’t stop Styles’ from continuing to pursue a career within acting as he has now been confirmed as Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action remake of the Little Mermaid.
