We’re moving to Boston, FRIENDS fans (don’t worry Joey, you get your own room)! Following its wildly successful New York debut, the FRIENDS 25th Anniversary Pop-Up is coming to Beantown. Fans can turn their calendar back to 1994 to revisit some of the series’ most iconic moments with an immersive pop-up experience created by Superfly, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Warner Bros. Television Group. “The One with the Pop-Up” will be located in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood at 401 Park (corner of Brookline Ave. and Fullerton St.). Tickets go on sale Friday, November 1, at 12:00 p.m. ET, exclusively at www.friends25popup.com.
The nostalgia-packed space offers precise set re-creations and more than 50 original props from the show, providing ample opportunity to explore the show’s history and capture photos. For fans yearning to stick a turkey on their head, peek through Rachel and Monica’s purple door, relax on Chandler and Joey’s recliner after playing some foosball, or help Ross with the infamous sofa pivot, the pop-up will deliver.
Visitors will also be treated to a special Friendsgiving event on Thursday, November 28, from 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. for $55, with the last time slot at 4:00 p.m. The Thanksgiving-themed pop-up will feature a special FRIENDS-themed food item to go at the end of the experience. Fans can also celebrate New Year’s Eve from 9:30 a.m.–12:10 a.m. and New Year’s Day from 9:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m. with commemorative merchandise.
The pop-up will also boast a re-created Central Perk. From the legendary orange couch to a food and beverage experience, guests can sip, snack, and chat FRIENDS style. College students with a valid student ID will receive a 10% discount on food, beverages, and merchandise.
“Following a wildly successful debut in New York, we were eager to share this one-of-a-kind experience with more fans and are very happy it found a new home in Boston,” said Peter van Roden, Senior Vice President, Global Themed Entertainment, Warner Bros. Consumer Products.”
Superfly, known for its highly creative experiential festivals and projects, is equally thrilled to bring FRIENDS to Boston. “Just like the show, the pop-up is a fun and joyful experience that brings people together. We received an overwhelmingly enthusiastic response from fans in New York who visited the pop-up, so we’re really looking forward to continuing the celebration and bringing this unique experience to Bostonians,” said Jonathan Mayers, co-founder, Superfly.
The pop-up, which also includes a FRIENDS retail store, opens November 21 and runs through January 5 from 9:30 a.m.–10:00 p.m. It will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving (with the last time slot at 4:00 p.m.) and Christmas Eve, and will be closed on Christmas Day. It will open on New Year’s Eve through 1:00 a.m., with the last time slot at 12:10 a.m. Regular hours will resume on New Year’s Day.
