The rumors have been swirling about who would be taking on the role of Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming “Batman” film, however it appears that “Westworld” actor Jeffrey Wright is now locked into the role.
Actor Mahershala Ali was also being looked at for the role, but it seems that Wright won out in the end. The news was broken via Twitter by director Matt Reeves who posted a simple tweet that read “Tweet! #Gordon and the bat emoji.

Wright is best known for his role in the HBO series “Westworld” and has also recently appeared in “James Bond” films and Netflix’s “The Laundromat”. As, for Ali, he will be taking on the role of vampire hunter Blade, who will soon be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Definitely not a bad gig for him as well!
Matt Reeves will begin filming “Batman” this January with actor Robert Pattinson putting on the bat suit and taking on the title role. Zoë Kravitz will play Catwoman, while Paul Dano will take on the role of The Riddler. Rumors have suggested that the team are still looking for an actor to play the Penguin. The screenplay, also written by the director, is tipped to be a dark, mysterious story along the lines of Warner’s films noir in the 1930s and 40s.
Batman will be released in theaters on June 25 2021.
