Joe Hill’s ‘The Black Phone’ Will Be Released Next Month In Theater’s

Joe Hill has been having a great year not only is he celebrating the birth of twins, but a new film based on his work is being released in theaters next month. The Black Phone which is based on a short story of the same name in Hill’s collection 20th Century Ghosts. The film will be released to theaters on June 24th.

The Black Phone follows Finney Shaw is a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who’s being held in a soundproof basement by a sadistic, masked killer. When a disconnected phone on the wall starts to ring, he soon discovers that he can hear the voices of the murderer’s previous victims — and they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.

The film will star Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, and James Ransone. The film will be directed by horror director, Scott Derrickson who also directed the first Dr. Strange and the Exorcism of Emily Rose.
