The date was chosen to coincide with the birthday of a historical figure named John Jameson, who founded the Jameson Irish Whiskey Distillery in Dublin in 1780. John Jameson was a Scottish businessman who moved to Ireland to manage a distillery in the late 18th century. He eventually bought the distillery and began producing his own whiskey, which became a popular brand known for its high quality and smooth taste.
