Soundgarden are going to release their final recordings with late frontman Chris Cornell. It was announced on Monday that the band has settled their legal dispute with the singer’s widow Vicky Cornell. The two parties were able to avoid going to court by reaching an “amicable” resolution.

Soundgarden and Vickey Cornell, on behalf of the estate of Chris Cornell, are happy to announce that they have reached an amicable out of court resolution. The reconciliation marks a new partnership between the two parties, which will allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the final songs that the band and Chris were working on. The two parties are united and coming together to propel, honor, and build upon Soundgarden’s incredible legacy as well as Chris’s indelible mark on music history – as one of the greatest songwriters and vocalists of all time.

Vicky Cornell echoed the sentiment, sharing the band’s statement on Twitter with the simple caption, “Forever.”

In December 0f 2019, Vicky Cornell sued the surviving members of Soundgarden over alleged missing royalty payments. In early 2020, Soundgarden issued a statement saying that the missing royalties were in the process of being paid. They also alleged, however, that Vicky Cornell was withholding access to the band’s official social media accounts. In 2021, both parties reached a temporary agreement on the issue of access to the band’s socials.

Chris Cornell died on May 17, 2017 after the Soundgarden’s show at the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan. The band’s last studio album was the long-awaited King Animal. Released in 2012, it was the band’s first LP since 1996. The album peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.
