Thousands of fans flocked to Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA to attend three sold-out nights of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. It was a spectacle that we have never seen before, as even fans who were sadly unable to snag tickets to any of the three shows, still showed up in droves, happily crowding the streets surrounding the stadium dancing and singing along with the amazing show that was being performed by Swift just inside.
In all of our years reviewing concerts, we have never seen so many fans come out and show their love and support for an artist even when they were not able to actually see the show, but rather only listen from the parking lots outside. This speaks volumes to just how much Swift’s music means to the fans, and it was truly amazing to witness.
There is a very special bond between Taylor Swift and her fan base lovingly referred to as Swifties and it is like no other music relationship we have ever seen. Plenty of artists have a loyal fan base, but the Swifties take things to the next level and Swift reciprocates giving them her all each and every show.
Those of us who were fortunate enough to be inside the stadium to both see and hear Swift’s performance, it was nothing short of spectacular. Hands down one of the very best overall tour productions that we have ever seen and further cements our opinion that Swift is truly one of the greatest performers of all time.
We are so grateful that we got witness Swift’s talent and charisma live. Here is our full review of the Eras Tour, which is a must-see for any Swiftie or music lover in general!
The Eras Tour is a three-hour celebration of Taylor Swift’s incredible career, spanning from her debut album in 2006 to her latest masterpiece, Midnights, in 2022. She performs songs from each of her ten albums, changing costumes and stages to match the mood and aesthetic of each era. She also interacts with the audience, telling stories and jokes, and expressing her gratitude and love for her fans.
The show started with the “Lover” era and Swift opened with “Cruel Summer”, which set the tone for a night of fun and excitement. She wore a pink sequined bodysuit and danced with her backup dancers on a colorful stage. She then sang “The Man”, “You Need To Calm Down”, “Lover” and “The Archer”, which were all crowd-pleasers.
Next up was the “Fearless” era which was the first album that made us fall in love with Swift. She played her acoustic guitar at the end of the catwalk. Songs featured were “Fearless”, “Love Story”, and “You Belong With Me”, which were all nostalgic and beautiful.
Then came the “Evermore” era, which was one of the albums Swift recorded during quarantine. She sang “tis the damn season”, “Willow”, “Marjorie”, “Champagne Problems” and “tolerate it”. It was a more intimate and emotional set, but still very captivating.
Next was the “Reputation” era , which was her sixth album and one of her most controversial ones. She wore a black leather outfit and played her on a dark stage with snake motifs. She sang “…Ready For It?”, “Delicate”, “Don’t Blame Me”, and “Look What You Made Me Do”. It was a fierce and edgy set that had everyone up on their feet and cheering.
Swift then dropped in one song from her “Speak Now:” album which was a gorgeous version of “Enchanted” much to the delight of us old school fans in the house.
After that, she moved on to the “Red” era, which was her fourth album and one of her most acclaimed ones. She wore a red dress and played her guitar on a red stage with fire effects. She sang “22”, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, “I Knew You Were Trouble”, “Nothing New” and “All Too Well” (the 10-minute version). It was a passionate and dramatic set that had everyone feeling all the emotions. Swift mentioned that “Nothing New” stemmed from her biggest fear that one day fans would forget about her, but judging by the reaction from this crowd, she can certainly cast that fear aside!
Next was Folklore, which was the other quarantine album that Swift released in 2020. Swift played her guitar on a forest-themed stage with trees and lanterns. She performed “The 1”, “Betty”, “The Last Great American Dynasty”, “August”, Illicit Affairs”, “My Tears Ricochet” and “Cardigan”. It was a more mellow and indie set, but still very enchanting. It was amazing to hear the story about how the ‘Folklore” album was recorded and we really feel that this album showcases Swift’s maturity as an artist, as it lyrically stunning!
After that, Swift moved on to the “1989” era , which was her first pop album and a huge success. She played “Style”, “Blank Space”, “Shake It Off”, “Wildest Dreams” and “Bad Blood”. It was a high-energy and upbeat set that had everyone dancing and singing along.
Each night of The Eras Tour Swift has been throwing in two surprise songs in this part of the set. For her third night in Philly, it just so happened to be Mother’s Day, so Swift treated us to the beautiful track she revealed to have secretly recorded as a surprise way to honor her mother titled “The Best Day” and before that a song that she says she has been getting a ton of requests for titled “Hey Stephen”.
Finally, Swift ended the evening with the “Midnights” era, which was her latest album release, and it is fantastic. She wore a sparkly purple dress and the stage with decked out with mists and clouds. To close out the night, Swift performed “Lavendar Haze”, “Anti-hero” “Midnight Rain”, “Vigilante Shit”, Bejeweled”, Mastermind” and “Karma”.
The always humble Swift took a curtain call with her crew and then graciously thanked the fans for their unending love and support and their response was a deafening roar of love and adoration for our very favorite hometown girl!
