Would You Believe Some People Really Think Chocolate Milk Comes From Brown Cows?

(PCM) As hard as it is to believe, a recent study sadly reveals that an alarming number of individuals still believe that chocolate milk comes from actual brown cows. Seriously! One thousand Americans were surveyed by the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy and the results were absolutely shocking, as they learned that 48% of the individuals survey literally had no idea where or how chocolate milk is created.

Could we really be suffering from that much of a lack of solid education in this country? Perhaps people are just so distracted by technology, as well as, highly processed food that they fail to realize that what they are consuming is not natural and have forgotten all about actual nature. Now that is a truly terrifying thought!

The study was initially conducted to survey the ways in which Americans consume dairy products on a day to day basis, but many of the answers led to some quite surprising results and what was even more shocking is that this survey was conducted on adults, not children.

According to the study, a whopping 7% of those surveyed answered that they wholeheartedly believed that chocolate milk came directly from brown cows. It is hard to fathom where these adults were getting misinformed, but chances are pop culture had a lot to do with it, as brown cows are featured in the video game Farmville and when you search Google for ‘Where does chocolate milk come from’ the first suggestion is brown cows!

Scary stuff! But just to set the record straight, chocolate milk absolutely does not come from brown cows. Brown cows supply the same white milk as any other type of cow, which is then flavored with chocolate syrup or powder to give us our delicious chocolate-flavored milk.
