America Loves Blondes And Bombs, AMC Gets It’s Best Week Ever In It’s 103 Year Existence

“Come on, Barbie, let’s go party ” is probably being sung by executives at AMC. The Barbie movie and Oppenheimer are breaking box office records. And one record that should be noted is that AMC has announced a new record with July 21-27 becoming the highest single-week admissions revenue record in the company’s 103-year history. Other films like Mission: Impossible” and the unlikely blockbuster “The Sound of Freedom helped with the record.

Nicknamed “The Barbenheimer” by the media and fans. The AMC announcement is helping show that there is a fanbase for people wanting to go to the theaters again. For the past couple of years, various articles have said that attendance in movie theaters was down. The past couple of years have been hard for movie theaters, due to Covid and low attendance. But with more studios taking a chance on a project like Barbie shows there is still an interest in going to the movies.

I attended San Diego Comic-Con and was surprised that Mattel did not do more promotion for the film. I saw many people of all ages dressed as Barbie, but there was no presence on the convention floor. Welcome back to the movie theater. Have you seen either Barbie or Oppenheimer ?
