Worth Watching: American Nightmare

Netflix Documentary American Nightmare was the big winner week three of January for the streaming service. The story unfolds quickly in a three part series and highlights the issue many people fear in being both safe in their own home and assisted by police. In the end the victims settled out of court. And while one villain in the story is brought to justice, some questions remain. Did the police cover up their own mistakes to save face or save the brotherhood?

It’s said that the truth always comes out in the end. What is often also true is that the truth often comes out too late in the end. The couple in this story did find some form of accountability from law enforcement with a settlement, but rest assured both had lawyers who each took a third. Many think they had a good payday in the end, but if that is so true, then why rip the band-aid off their wound and let the world see them suffer all over again not even ten years since the crime? It may be of some consolation that it’s theorized that Netflix pays anywhere from one to three million dollars for rights to a documentary. Would you suffer as they did for that amount?
