Rehya Stevens Invigorates Listeners with Her New Dance Anthem “Let’s Have Some Fun”

Review of Rehya Stevens’s “Let’s Have Some Fun

Singer-songwriter Rehya Stevens has been relentlessly energizing the pop scene since the early 2010’s with her electrifying tracks dedicated to liberation, love, and living in the moment.

The latest addition to her discography “Let’s Have Some Fun,” captures the bliss of relinquishing your worries to the wind, injecting the soul with a fresh perspective of vitality.

While promoting an environment of celebration, “Let’s Have Some Fun” is far from ignorant to the frequency of hardships in life. Rather, it encourages listeners to welcome moments that inspire happiness.

Prescribing fun as “the perfect remedy” Stevens invites listeners to follow her into a listeners to follow her into a kaleidoscope of exuberance, finding positivity in any shape it may take.

“I think it’s vital to celebrate the wins in life – and that can be anything! Getting to Friday with a sense of accomplishment, paying off a credit card with a high balance, getting the house cleaned, the laundry done and the grocery shopping out of the way… just getting through the grind of everyday life is a win,” Stevens expresses.

Returning to produce this infectious track is producer and consistent collaborator, Brian Steckler. The two worked with effortless synergy to create a song that is emblematic of Stevens’s steadfast belief in the value of playfulness and fostering jubilation.

“Being a hard working, diligent person, I’m not even slightly ashamed to say that I am motivated more by connection and FUN than much of anything else.” Stevens says.

The fortress of joy that Stevens consolidates through her songwriting is no surprise considering she’s best known for three successful holiday albums Celebrate, ‘Tis The Season, and Santa’s Takin’ Over The Town. Several works from these collections have been featured in numerous holiday movies you’ve likely cozied up to year after year.

Stylistically, “Let’s Have Some Fun” dances fervently beside Stevens’s previous pop and festive releases, weaving melodies that contain audible bursts of color. While utilizing elements of modern synth and techno, Steckler’s keys and electric guitars bring retro-fresh energy with a nod to classic 80’s dance and R&B.

The bridge is punctuated by a rap written by Steckler and performed by Lorie V. Moore, delivering an unexpected twist before exploding into the final chorus, calling out to any skeptical listeners to “leave it all behind.”

The universal message of the song cannot be underscored as the lyric video, created by Stevens herself, opens with an image of a sparkling, rotating globe. Following, are a variety of dancers from all over the world beckoning viewers to join in through their contagious energy.

The prioritization of pleasure is not always easy to commit to, which is why at its core, “Let’s Have Some Fun” is ultimately about dedicating time to yourself. “Life presses in on each of us and I know for me, I get kinda stodgy when I habitually put fun at the bottom of the totem pole,” Stevens acknowledges.

When working to establish new routines and more positive thinking patterns, what’s crucial is understanding the power of making room for joy. From the connectivity of spending time with family and friends to the solitary self-care of listening to a favorite song, there are a myriad of little moments where fun peeks its way into our lives.
