IMDb, the world’s most popular and authoritative source for information on movies, TV shows, and celebrities, is excited to announce that it will feature exclusive, on-the-ground coverage of San Diego Comic-Con 2024.
The IMDboat will serve as a floating content-creation studio and a must-stop destination for talent, industry VIPs, and fans. The boat will be docked at Fifth Avenue Landing, directly behind the San Diego Convention Center, and open to invited guests and entertainment fans beginning on Thursday, July 25. Daily operating hours will vary:
- From Thursday through Saturday (July 25-27), IMDb will produce original coverage on multiple levels of the IMDboat with casts from Alien: Romulus, Borderlands, Transformers One, The Walking Dead Universe, The Wild Robot, and more. Talent will participate in activations including exclusive portraits and cast photos with celebrity photographers Vivien Best, Mat Hayward, and Michael Kovac; fan meet and greets and autograph signings; and, select celebrities and filmmakers will participate in original video interviews on the open-air top deck. Between portrait sessions and interviews, onboard talent, showrunners, and filmmakers will enjoy a private lounge, cocktails, and refreshments, and receive signature gifting.
- From Thursday through Saturday (July 25-27), IMDb will invite fans onboard the IMDboat to participate in a variety of activities, including: the DiGiorno Relax and Recharge Lounge, which will serve up complimentary drinks and new, limited-edition pizzas inspired by the upcoming release of Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE, in theaters on July 26; the Disney Lorcana TCG Showcase, where guests can discover the immersive and welcoming Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game. Here they’ll experience interactive displays of the latest Disney Lorcana TCG products; fans can test their movie and TV knowledge and win prizes competing in an interactive game called “IMDb Presents…Get the Picture”; and immerse yourself in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Prime Video photo booth, where visitors can capture a keepsake photo and prepare for the season 2 premiere on August 29.
- Upon entry to the IMDboat, fans will be given a custom passport book to collect unique stamps at fan activations. Those who collect all of the stamps will receive additional, exclusive IMDb signature item upon exit. All boat guests will also be gifted swag from IMDb and IMDboat sponsors, including DiGiorno, Disney Lorcana TCG, and Prime Video.
- Fans will be treated to video clips and trivia displayed on the massive IMDboat LED screen on the Fifth Avenue Landing boardwalk. Additionally, during the day, Comic-Con attendees around San Diego can meet with the DiGiorno Street Team, who will be hosting Marvel Studios’ DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE-inspired trivia and providing gifting. - On Thursday (July 25) at 2:00 p.m. PDT, fans are invited to join internet personality and content creator Snitchery, best known for her “unhinged” cosplay, on the top deck of the IMDboat for a round of anime-themed trivia. - On Thursday (July 25) from 5:00-7:00 p.m. PDT, IMDbPro — the essential resource for entertainment industry professionals — will host a member-only Happy Hour on the IMDboat. IMDbPro provides information and tools designed to help IMDbPro members achieve success throughout their careers, including claiming, managing, and showcasing their IMDb name page. Select guests can step into the portrait studio to capture a new headshot for their IMDb and IMDbPro profile – arrival at 5PM or shortly after is recommended for guests interested in a headshot. To attend, invited guests must RSVP and provide proof of IMDbPro membership ahead of the event.
- On Friday (July 26) at 4:00 p.m. PDT, fans onboard and along the boardwalk will be treated to an exclusive trailer premiere for season 3 of the acclaimed MGM+ original series FROM joined by the cast and filmmakers. 75 lucky fans will be invited to meet and greet stars Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, showrunner Jeff Pinker and more on the top deck of the IMDboat. Snap photos, get an autographed poster, and snag exclusive show swag — including your own talisman! The cast and showrunners will also participate in a Q&A session with guests. - On Friday (July 26) from 5:30-7:00 p.m. PDT, IMDb and MGM+ will host an invitation-only event “FROM-ily Gathering” celebrating the cast and filmmakers of the hit series FROM. Special guests at the cast party will include Harold Perrineau, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey, Elizabeth Saunders, David Alpay, Executive Producers Jeff Pinkner and John Griffin, industry influencers, and more. Attendees will also enjoy themed cocktails, appetizers, and gifts. FROM season 3 will stream exclusively on MGM+ (available with a Prime Video add-on subscription) beginning Sunday, September 22.
- Calling all Star Trek fans! On Saturday (July 27) starting at 3:45 p.m. PDT, join the casts and creators of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Star Trek: Lower Decks, and Star Trek: Section 31 at the IMDboat as they celebrate the latest seasons of the fan-favorite franchise. Costumed guests will be invited to participate in a special Star Trek cosplay photo with celebrity guests, and the first 100 guests will receive Star Trek swag.
