Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the latest trailer for “The Accountant 2,” the much-anticipated sequel to the 2016 action thriller. The film is set to premiere in theaters globally on April 25, 2025.
Directed by Gavin O’Connor, who returns alongside screenwriter Bill Dubuque, “The Accountant 2” sees Ben Affleck reprising his role as Christian Wolff, a highly skilled forensic accountant with a penchant for uncovering financial deceptions. Jon Bernthal also returns as Braxton, Christian’s estranged brother, suggesting a deeper exploration of their complex relationship.
The newly released trailer offers a glimpse into the film’s intense narrative. Following the murder of Treasury Department official Raymond King, portrayed by J.K. Simmons, Christian is drawn back into a perilous investigation. Teaming up with his brother Braxton and Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina, played by Cynthia Addai-Robinson, the trio delves into a web of conspiracy and danger.
The film’s synopsis reveals:
“Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to ‘find the accountant,’ Wolff is compelled to solve the case.”
In addition to Affleck and Bernthal, the cast includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda, Allison Robertson, and J.K. Simmons. The film is produced by Lynette Howell Taylor and Mark Williams, with music composed by Bryce Dessner.
“The Accountant 2” is scheduled for theatrical release in the United States on April 25, 2025, with international distribution by Warner Bros. Pictures. Fans can catch an early glimpse of the film during special Tax Day screenings on April 15.
