Last year at SDCC, our outlet covered the press room for a new show called Krapopolis. Dan Harmon, a big name in the Hollywood game, created the show. Harmon created great shows like Community and co-created the hit animated show Rick and Morty, which airs on Adult Swim. The show even had a giant billboard on one of the hotels in San Diego during Comic-Con. So nearly a year later, Krapopolis has yet to be released.
In the press room, we met Harmon and a few of the cast members for season one, including Duncan Trussell, Matt Berry, Jordan Young (EP), and Pete Michelis (Animation Director). They revealed that there would be many special guest voices on the animated show, including Susan Sarandon.
If you’re reading this and wondering what Krapopolis is about, the show is animated and set in mythical Ancient Greece; the series centers on a flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters that tries to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other. The show is scheduled to air on the Fox Network, but no release date has been announced.
All though the show has yet to air on television, it has been renewed for seasons three and four. The latest news about the show is that the showrunner for the latter seasons was replaced. Alex Rubens will serve as showrunner for seasons three and four. Rubens, who has worked with Harmon in the past is replacing Jordan Young who was working as the executive producer for season one.
Whatever executives at Fox saw of the show must have been good, because the show was renewed. So hopefully as fans of animation we get to see the show soon.
