(PCM) FOX has recently revealed that they are pulling the plug on the X Factor, the reality singing competition series, after three seasons.
The show will not be returning for the fall season and head judge Simon Cowell will be returning to the U.K version of the series later this year.
“I’ve had a fantastic time over the last 12 years, both on ‘The X Factor’ and ‘American Idol,’” Cowell said in a statement. “And apart from being lucky enough to find some amazing talent on the shows, I have always had an incredible welcome from the American public – most of the time!”
The series was expected to be a huge hit when it initially premiered back in 2011, but it somehow never achieved the stellar ratings predicted and suffered a huge decline in viewership during season three.
The show changed up its’ judging panel each season with Paul Abdul, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and Kelly Rowland among those joining Cowell on the panel.
