(PCM) The Cold Lands, the latest drama from director Tom Gilroy, makes its U.S. debut when it hits N.Y. theaters this March!
The Cold Lands follows the story of Atticus, an orphaned boy left to fend for himself in the woods, growing up alone and confused.
When his fiercely self-reliant mother dies unexpectedly, eleven year-old Atticus is wary of the authorities and flees deep into the forests surrounding his Catskills home.
Wandering the woods in shock, relying on what meager food and shelter he comes across, Atticus’ grasp on reality begins to fray. His sheltered, off-the-grid childhood dissolves into a directionless life on the move, avoiding other people while trying to differentiate between reality and fantasy.
His nerves worn thin, Atticus latches on when he encounters Carter, a scruffy, pot smoking drifter, who lives out of his car and sells handmade necklaces on the festival circuit. A wary alliance forms, with each dependent on the other, but neither sure he is making the right decision.
The Cold Lands premiered in Germany last February to warm reviews; the film currently has a 6.7/10 rating on IMDB.
The film stars Silas Yelich, Lili Taylor (The Conjuring), and Peter Scanavino (Happythankyoumoreplease).
Director Tom Gilroy is known for his 1999 film Spring Forward starring Ned Beatty and Liev Schreiber which won the WorldFest Houston Independent Theatrical Feature Films – Drama Gold Award in 2000. Gilroy is also known for directing R.E.M.’s 2011 video for “It Happened Today.”
The Cold Lands will make its U.S. premiere in N.Y. theaters this March 14th, be sure to check it out!
