(PCM) A group of best friends are on the hunt for an extinct duck in the humorous coming-of-age tale, A Birder’s Guide to Everything, opening in theaters on a limited run starting March 21st.
David Portnoy is unlike many of the other 15-year-old students at his high school; he likes to spend his days camped out in the woods and climbing trees and roofs in the pursuit of his favorite hobby: birding. With his two best friends, David devotes his time to the hobby and little else, missing out on some of the social happenings of his peers.
When David stumbles upon what he believes to be the Camptorhynchus labradorius, more commonly known as the Labrador Duck, the first bird to go extinct in North America, his life gets a much needed dose of adventure and excitement.
Racing against time, other birding enthusiasts, and slim odds, David and his friends team up with a fellow classmate, Ellen, to capture a picture of the duck and make history.
A Birder’s Guide to Everything is a sweet and funny coming-of-age story that reminds its audience of the joy of discovery and wonder of youth.
Starring in the film are Ben Kingsley (Gandhi), Kodi Smit-McPhee (ParaNorman), James Le Gros (Vantage Point), Alex Wolff (The Sitter), and Katie Chang (The Bling Ring).
A Birder’s Guide to Everything is rated PG-13 on appeal for language, sex and drug references, and brief partial nudity.
