Joining forces with Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off assailants sent to silence him at every turn.
When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier is produced by Kevin Feige (The Avengers), directed by Anthony and Jo Russo (Community,Happy Endings), from a screenplay by Christopher Markus (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: Dark World) and Stephen McFreely (Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor: Dark World).
Captain America: The Winter Soldier stars Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger), Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers), Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The First Avenger), Anthony Mackie (Pain and Gain), Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother), Frank Grillo (The Grey), Emily VanCamp (Revenge), and Hayley Atwell (Captain America: The First Avenger), with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
This film will be the ninth installment in Marvel’s film franchise pertaining to The Avengers universe. In recent years, there has been an influx of large super hero blockbuster films in Hollywood, raking in tickets sales in the billions. Marvel’s The Avengers, released in May of 2012, grossed over $1.5 billion in worldwide ticket sales while Iron Man 3, released in May of 2013, generated over $1.2 billion in worldwide ticket sales.
