The Unknown Known in Theaters April 2

theunknownknown(PCM) Errol Morris’s latest foray into political documentaries, The Unknown Known, will hit theaters in New York and Los Angeles on Wednesday, April 2.

Morris’ film The Unknown Known is a gripping exploration of the career and philosophy of former U.S Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Using declassified memos, Morris guides Rumsfeld through a discussion of his controversial career as a high-level executive under four different Republican presidents.

Such absorbing topics as Vietnam, the Cold War, Desert Storm and the War on Terror are all examined through the words of one of America’s most divisive and complex public figures.

The Unknown Known opened in Italy in January of 2014 to critical acclaim; the film currently has a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Director Errol Morris, known in part for popularizing non-fiction films in the ’80′s, won an Oscar in 2004 for his 2003 documentary The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara.

Danny Elfman, best known for his work on Beetlejuice (1988), Batman (1989), Edward Scissorhands (1990), Mission Impossible (1996), and American Hustle (2013) composed the soundtrack for The Unknown Known, giving the documentary a unique pacing and style.

The Unknown Known will open in U.S. theaters to a limited run on April 2. The documentary has a run time of 96 minutes and is rated PG-13 for some disturbing images and brief nudity.
