(PCM) There has been so much speculation as to director Michael Bay’s take on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise with this upcoming live action film. Paramount has just unveiled the first footage from the upcoming film and it seems that quite a bit has changed.
Guests at Cinemacon 2014 were treated to the first sneak peek at the upcoming film in a clip that was introduced by actor Will Arnett, who portrays Vernon Fenwick in the film. The general consensus was that the turtles resembled giant green babies and were really kind of creepy looking.
The clip also revealed a voice-over from William Fichtner, who plays Shredder in the film, talking about crime and violence with April O’Neil, who is played by actress Megan Fox. The clip then cuts to foot soldiers running through the sewers and April O’Neil attempting to record the occurrences in the sewer with her iPhone.
The Fichtner voice-over continues with what is probably the biggest reveal (and difference from the original) yet. Shredder says, ”Heroes are not born, they’re created… That was what your father and I were trying to do. Create heroes.” So this reveals that perhaps it was April O’Neil’s father who helped create the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The next parts of the clip show the Turtles sliding down a snow covered mountain, followed by another clip where one of the Turtles’ shells is hit by a large army truck and shatters, the April O’Neil meets the Turtles and promptly passes out!
It seems like some of the same humor from both the original films and the cartoon will be present, but with Michael Bay at the helm this one is definitely going to be more action-packed. We can’t wait to see more!
