Palo Alto in Theaters May 9

PaloAlto(PCM) Teenage angst permeates out of Palo Alto, written by James Franco and directed by Gia Coppola, in theaters on a limited run starting May 9.

Gia Coppola makes her feature directorial debut with this drama adapted from a series of short stories written by James Franco, who stars as a soccer coach in the California town where bored teens begin to stir up trouble.

Emma Roberts play a young and naive high school soccer player in Palo Alto, all too eager to fall in love with the troubled boy next door and her high school soccer coach. Drama ensues in this dark story centered around teens looking for trouble.

Palo Alto stars James Franco (127 Hours, This is the End), Emma Roberts (Nancy Drew, We’re the Millers), Val Kilmer (Batman Forever, Top Gun), Nat Wolff (Stuck in Love, Admission), and Zoe Levin (Trust, The Way Way Back).

The film also features an atmospheric original score by producer Dev Hynes, known better to some as Blood Orange.

Fun Fact: Gia Coppola is Francis-Ford Coppola’s granddaughter and niece of Sofia Coppola and Roman Coppola.

Palo Alto has a run time of 1 hour and 38 minutes, is rated R for strong sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and pervasive language – all involving teens, and already has an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
