Paraplegic Wearing An Exo-Skeleton Suit Kicks Off The World Cup

Paraplegic1

(PCM) In what was truly an amazing feat a young paraplegic man kicked-off the 2014 World Cup in Brazil wearing a mind-controlled robotic suit. The paraplegic man was able to walk onto the field and kick the soccer ball to give the game quite the emotional start.

The suit is part of the “Walk Again Project” and the specially designed exo-skeleton consists of small motors that allow a paralyzed person to walk and even kick again. The exo-skeleton also feature a cap that it fitted with electrodes so that when the wearer thinks about walking or kicking the suit will then respond appropriately. Definitely some mind-blowing technology.

The people behind the “Walk Again Project” are a group of over 100 scientists and researchers from all around the world who worked together to create the amazing device. The team in Brazil raced against the clock to have the device ready to kick-off The World Cup and certainly look forward to continuing their research to examine other movements for the suit in addition to walking and kicking.
