“The Guest” Hits Theaters in Limited Run September 19

TheGuest(PCM) Picturehouse’s thriller starring Dan Stevens, The Guest, opens in a limited run in the U.S. starting September 19, 2014.

From the director of You’re Next and featuring a standout, badass performance from Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), comes The Guest: a tense, action-packed and unpredictable film like everything and nothing you’ve ever seen before.

The Guest follows David (Dan Stevens), a soldier who introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be the friend of their son who died in action.

After the family welcomes the young man into their home, a series of accidental deaths appear to be linked to the stranger, causing unrest and tensions between the guest and the family.

Empire Magazine called it “a demented action-horror hybrid of sci-fi conspiracy thriller and gore-fest”, and Vanity Fair said, “The Guest is big, it’s bold, it’s badass, full of flavor Hollywood wishes it could pour over its vanilla blockbusters.”

Empire Magazine and Vanity Fair are not alone in their praise of the film; The Guest is currently sporting a certified fresh rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Dennis Harvey of Variety praised director Adam Wingard saying “Wingard wreaks havoc on another nuclear family in this giddily violent treat for genre fans.”

Starring alongside Dan Stevens in The Guest are Maika Monroe (Labor Day, The Bling Ring), Leland Orser (Se7en, Taken), Sheila Kelley (Matchstick Men, Singles), Brendan Meyer (Mr. Young, Girl vs. Monster), and Lance Reddick (Fringe, The Wire).

The Guest opens in theaters on a limited run starting September 19, 2014. Watch the official trailer below and visit the official website for more info!

The Guest is rated R for strong violence, language, some drug use and a scene of sexuality.
