A report from AltPress has revealed that the Artery Recordings has been acquired by Warner Music Group for an undisclosed amount of money, and that the entire staff, including president Shan Dan Horan, were let go from the company now owned by Warner Music Group. AltPress has reached out to Artery president Shan Dan Horan who confirmed the unfortunate news and said the future of the label is uncertain. You can read his full statement below. Artery Recordings was launched back in 2010 by Eric Rushing who has since left Artery Recordings and was home to bands like ATTILA and Chelsea Grin when it first launched.
“To address the rumors, yes, Artery has sold to Warner,” Horan said in a statement to Alternative Press. “I can’t disclose too much about the deal, but building up this company to a million record sales in just five years is a tremendous accomplishment for the fans, our artists and the team. I’m humbled and appreciate each and every band I’ve ever had the honor of developing at Artery Recordings. As we hand over the keys to Warner, I’m not quite sure their plans for the label or catalog, but I hope they keep the legacy alive. With new Slaves and Capture albums on the horizon, I’m sure the fans will be ecstatic.”
Capture and Slaves both have albums currently on the way and are rumored to be releasing their new records via Warner Music Group’s Artery Recordings. Jonny Craig and Weston Richmond of Slaves both have uploaded these posts to social media on Aug. 24th, which could be confirming the signing to Warner. Warner will be capitalizing on the back catalogue at Artery Recordings and Attila frontman Chris Fronzak’s label, Stay Sick Records, was also an imprint of Artery Recordings, and no mention on what will happen to the bands on Fronz’ imprint label (Stay Sick Records).
