‘Blade Runner 2049‘ is officially less than a month away. Let that sink in. This is one of those rare films that has the promise of being the first good sequel to a beloved classic. Luckily, the film boasts a major amount of talent. Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, and Dave Bautista all join as he reprises his role as maybe-replicant Rick Decard. The long-awaited sequel to ‘Blade Runner‘, the film takes place 30 years after the first and is finally starting to really ramp up it’s marketing campaign, starting with the prequel short released last week.
The sequel to Ridley Scott‘s original film, ‘Blade Runner 2049‘ is helmed by Dennis Villeneuve. Based on the trailer, Villeneuve is set bring his own interpretation to the universe, while still adhering to the style that Scott established. What is really exciting here is that frequent Villeneuve collaborator Rodger Deakins served as the cinematographer for the film. This, combined with the fact that the film is set to have an IMAX release, is sure to make ‘Blade Runner 2049‘ a dazzling experience at the cinema.
In tandem with this, the marketing behind the film has kept most of the plot details under wraps. With a universe like ‘Blade Runner‘, this is a good thing. Going in knowing as little as possible about the story as possible is a that many modern trailers seem to forget. For those who can’t wait to learn more, WB have graciously provided a small look into the plot of the film with a clip from the film.
Here’s the new clip for ‘Blade Runner 2049‘:
Seems pretty ominous. What’s really impressive with this clip is how textured the world is. Although it may not prove to be the most colorful of scenes, compared to what’s in the trailers, it gives a good idea of what Villeneuve and co. were trying to accomplish with the film.
In addition, the film’s runtime has been confirmed, clocking in at 2 Hours and 32 Minutes (without credits). This is roughly 46 minutes longer than the original film. Hopefully, the film’s runtime will be fully utilized to further flesh out the world of ‘Blade Runner‘ even further. While we anxiously await the film’s release on October 6, 2017, you can check out the final poster, as well as the official synopsis for ‘Blade Runner 2049’ below:
