Legendary Rocker TOM PETTY Dead at 66; Found in Cardiac Arrest, Taken Off Life Support

Tom Petty (A.K.A. Thomas Earl Petty) was rushed to the hospital Sunday night (Oct. 1st) after he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest at his Malibu home, law enforcement sources told TMZ. Petty, became famous with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in 1978, Petty was 66 years old.

EMT’s rushed to Petty’s Malibu home and were able to get a pulse. He was then rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and our sources say he was put on life support, but then shortly after Tom Petty got to the hospital, he had no brain activity and a decision was made to pull Petty off life support. He’s notched three Grammy wins over the years, and 18 nominations. Petty played his last show last Monday, performing three sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl to conclude their 40th anniversary tour. The band wrote on their website that the tour included 53 shows in 24 states.

CBS News Reported Petty’s death at 3:59pm.
