Fans of the CW series “Riverdale” were heartbroken to learn of the untimely passing of 52-year old actor Luke Perry who portrayed Fred Andrews, father of Archie Andrews in the series. Perry played a key role in the series, so as the writers, cast and crew mourn Perry’s passing, filming on the series has been postponed indefinitely.
Many are wondering just how the writers are going to approach the terrible loss and how they will manage to incorporate it into the upcoming episodes of the series. Many technical decisions must be made regarding ways in which the trajectory of the story arc will change following this tragedy.
The writers are considering their options, as Perry has been a major part of the series since season one. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the showrunner for Riverdale, and his writers’ room will have to find a solution to incorporate his death into their storytelling.
At the time of Perry’s death, the writers were hard at work on the final episodes of season three and are attempting to find out if there is a way in which the story can somehow be altered. We can certainly hope that they will pay a fitting tribute to Perry, as we are sure they will and his presence on “Riverdale” will be sorely missed!
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Perry’s family and loved, as well as, the entire “Riverdale” family during this incredibly difficult time.
