The 2019 Emmy Awards were held Sunday night, September 22nd at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California and there were plenty of stand-out moments and quite a few surprises throughout the evening. For one, there was no host. This is the first time since 2003 that the Emmy Awards had no official host and they seemed to be following the same path that the Academy Awards took earlier this year.
HBO’s “Game Of Thrones” which was nominated for a whopping 32 Emmy’s won big in it’s final season taking home the Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. This year also marks the first time that an openly gay black man took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series with Billy Porters highly deserved win for his role in the amazing FX series “Pose”.
Many speeches throughout the evening were aimed at equality and full of passion especially the incredibly moving speech from actress Patricia Arquette in regards to trans rights and Alex Borstein’s heartfelt tribute to her grandmother who was a holocaust survivor.
