Suburbicon is an especially savage Coen Brothers yarn and one that would have been more of a success under a different director, even directed by the men themselves. Of all the “second tier” Netflix acquisitions this year, “The Babysitter” is arguably the best, thanks to its lean running time of 85 minutes, the chemistry between its two leads and some ghoulishly outlandish death scenes that could earn a deserved place in the pantheon of horror films. Regardless of whether it’s seen in IMAX or viewed in standard DCP, if one considers themselves a Blade Runner aficionado or simply excited to see what Mr. Villeneuve does to expand the Blade Runner mythology, they must make the effort to check this out so experiences like this ultimately “aren’t lost in time, like tears in rain,” to quote Mr. Hauer’s iconic final monologue.

When a horror film gets to its third entry, it better damn well know where to go or things will go downhill. And when Jeepers Creepers 3 does badly with its fanbase, it won’t be because of Mr. Salva’s past indiscretions.
