Suburbicon is an especially savage Coen Brothers yarn and one that would have been more of a success under a different director, even directed by the men themselves. That comment isn’t meant to slander Mr. Clooney’s abilities as a filmmaker, but there come a handful of scenes where it feels he’s too timid to truly embrace its misanthropic ideology.

Of all the “second tier” Netflix acquisitions this year, “The Babysitter” is arguably the best, thanks to its lean running time of 85 minutes, the chemistry between its two leads and some ghoulishly outlandish death scenes that could earn a deserved place in the pantheon of horror films.
