Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters, and Rage Against The Machine have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Other rock and alternative artists on the ballot include New York Dolls, Kate Bush, Devo, and Todd Rundgren.

Other notable names include Jay Z, Mary J. Blige, The Go-Go’s, Carole King, Tina Turner, LL Cool J, and more.

Foo Fighters find themselves on the ballot in their first year of eligibility. Their self-titled debut came out in 1995, and the band just released their tenth studio outing Medicine at Midnight. To date, the band has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and garnered 12 Grammy Awards.

Trailblazing icons Rage Against The Machine announced their long-awaited reunion in last year, but the subsequent tour was postponed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their last album – 1999’s The Battle of Los Angeles – debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 over 20 years ago. Although they only released three albums (four if you count their covers album Renegades), their impact on the music industry undeniable.

Finally, heavy metal legends Iron Maiden have gotten the nod. The band became eligible for the Hall in 2005. For just over four decades, Iron Maiden have been one of the biggest musical acts in the world. They boast one of the most dynamic stage shows you can buy a ticket for, and they’re legacy as one of the biggest bands ever is cemented. Their last studio outing was the massive double-LP The Book of Souls.

Sadly, the New York Dolls’ nomination comes just over a month after guitarist Sylvain Sylvain passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer.
