AMC announced today the renewal of Eli Roth’s History of Horror for a third season of six hour-long episodes, set to return later this year. The series has brought together masters of horror – the storytellers and the stars who define the genre, including Stephen King, Jordan Peele and Quentin Tarantino, among many others, to explore its biggest themes and reveal the inspirations and struggles behind its past and present. Halloween is right around the corner, which is a treat for horror fans. With Halloween comes lots and lots of scary movies. One of my favorite horror movies from the 80s regularly plays around this time of year is the movie Creepshow. The film was directed by George A. Romero, the legendary director who brought zombies to the mainstream with Night of the Living Dead’s release. Creepshow came out in 1982 and has since become a cult classic. Stephen King wrote the film and also starred in one of the five stories featured in the movie. King overacts in the segment and steals the show ” The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill.” The story follows a not so smart man named Jody Verrill, who watches a meteorite crash land on his farm. Jody touches the fallen meteorite to bring it to the local university to get some money to pay off his bank loan. After touching the meteorite, Jody slowly turns into a giant weed. Yet another member of the Skarsgard family will be taking on the role of a villain in the Stephen King universe with Alexander Skarsgard playing Randall Flagg, aka The Man In Black in the upcoming CBS All Access series of Stephen King’s “The Stand”. It is said that the upcoming series will consist of ten episodes and will also star James Marsden (Westworld), Amber Heard (Aquaman), Jovan Adepo (The Leftovers), Odessa Young (Assassination Nation) and Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why). In “The Stand”, the character of Randall Flagg is a charismatic, demonic leader who is the head of a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic Las Vegas. In less than three weeks one of the most highly anticipated shows is coming to Shudder. Creepshow will debut on the horror streaming service on September 26th 2019. Creepshow will comprise of six episodes with two horror stories per episode. The series will take place after the last two films with the same concept. The original Creepshow movie came out all the way back in 1982 and featured stories by Stephen King and was directed by horror legend George Romero. Greg Nicotero will be the showrunner for the series and will also direct an episode. We went and saw a movie I have been waiting all year to see, IT Chapter Two. The movie will hit theater’s this week and will surely be a delight for fans of Stephen King and his killer clown creation Pennywise. The movie was well worth the wait, and don’t be surprised if you see more Pennywise costumes this Halloween. Pennywise has returned after a twenty-seven-year slumber and begins feasting on the children of Derry once more. The Loser’s Club who first defeated Pennywise years before must return to their old town to defeat the killer clown once and for all. Whoever did the casting to cast the adult Loser’s should win an award. Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean all portray the adult Losers. I got to admit Bill Hader hit it out of the park playing adult Richie Tozier is a very successful comedian, but after learning about Derry, he loses all his confidence.
