Suburbicon is an especially savage Coen Brothers yarn and one that would have been more of a success under a different director, even directed by the men themselves. That comment isn’t meant to slander Mr. Clooney’s abilities as a filmmaker, but there come a handful of scenes where it feels he’s too timid to truly embrace its misanthropic ideology.
