(PCM) A very special public memorial service was held this past weekend in Richmond, VA to honor the life of GWAR frontman Davie Brockie a.k.a. Oderus Urungus. Fans, friends and family gathered together at Hadad’s Lake to pay their last respects and share their memories. Speakers at the memorial included Jello Biafra and Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe, who both shared incredibly touching tributes and fun stories about their memories of Brockie. There were plenty of moments of laughter throughout the tears.

After the memorial service, Brockie’s infamous Oderus Urungus costume was set ablaze on Hadad’s Lake in a traditional Viking Funeral Pyre. For those in attendance it was an incredibly intense moment and an incredibly fitting way to say goodbye … Read More…

Live Review And Exclusive Interviews: Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival 2014

DSC_1747(PCM) Every summer we look forward to the brutality and full on metal assault that comes with the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival and the 2014 line-up brought us just that and a whole lot more.

Sure, there are a ton of summer music festivals that pop up all over the country, but to me, Mayhem Festival is one of very last of the tried and true rock and metal touring packages that give fans a ton of bang for their buck. The festival features over 20 bands performing across multiple stages and I always recommend arriving early to be sure that you can catch everyone you want to see, besides nothing beats a little coffee and metal to get you awake and moving.

Slipknot Post An Uber Creepy Video Trailer

Slipknot1

(PCM) We are all eagerly anticipating the upcoming new album from Iowa rockers Slipknot, as they have been hard at work on it for quite some time now.

We spoke with front-man Cory Taylor back in May when he was the guest of honor at this year’s Roast On The Range and he told us “People are going to lose their minds when they hear the new Slipknot record”!

Earllier today, Slipknot posted and then promptly removed quite an interesting video trailer! Many are speculating about what it could be for, but chances are it is a quick glimpse into the theme for the new album.

The band has recently announced that Knotfest will take place on October 24-26 in San Bernardino, California. Slipknot will … Read More…

We were able to catch The Wild Feather’s performing at this year’s Firefly Music Festival and they were definitely one of our highlights throughout the entire weekend.

The band, which consists of four brothers Johnny, Jesse, Dylan and Daniel Kongos, fill the stage with a true sense of passion and intoxicating energy. Despite their early set time, kicking off the Firefly Main Stage, they were the ideal wake-up call to shake things up and get everyone moving at the festival.

The band’s single “Come With Me Now’ is blowing up at radio and is surely becoming one of biggest hits of the summer. The track comes from the band’s latest album release “Lunatic” which is available now!

Outkast And Jack Johnson Round-Out An Epic Firefly Festival Weekend

KS2_3555

(PCM) I could hardly believe that after Thursday and Friday’s epic performance there were still two more days lined-up for Firefly Music Festival. As I made my way into the festival around noon on Saturday, I was greeted by sounds of “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles blasting through the speakers of the Lawn Stage, the same thing occurred on Sunday around noon as well.

I felt that it was a warm and lovely way to greet festival goers as they were making their way into the festival grounds each day…almost like a little good afternoon hug of a song!

All mushiness aside, I was able to check out some awesome performances on Saturday afternoon and evening from artists such as Bad Things, Twenty … Read More…

New Politics Talk Firefly Festival, MoumentTour And More!

(PCM) PCM’s Kristyn Clarke recently had the opportunity to catch up with New Politics while out at the Firefly Music Festival which recently took place at The Woodlands in Dover, DE.

New Politics hail from Copenhagen, Denmark and are certainly creating quite a bit of buzz throughout the musical realm. The band brings so many various elements to their sound that it is incredibly difficult to box them into one particular genre or another, but we can say one thing for sure….a New Politics performance is always a good time!

The band tore up the stage at Firefly and even treated us to a little impromptu Justin Timberlake cover towards the end of their set!  Be sure to catch the band out on the road … Read More…

(PCM) With Firefly Music Festival expanding to four days this year things got off to an amazing start on Thursday afternoon. It was the perfect way to avoid the major traffic jams that occurred the prior year and allow campers to get in and get settled between Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

When we arrived, we were able to catch some amazing performances from Kodaline, Amos Lee and Local Natives which provided the perfect soundtrack for getting our weekend off to an incredible start!

One of the true stand-out moments from Lee’s set was definitely his closing which was an instrumental rendition of the “Game Of Thrones” theme song. It was amazing to watch everyone’s face light up once they … Read More…
