avengers-3-infinity-wars(PCM) How do you keep actors in on contract when it ends with their next film? Divide it into a two-part story. Smart Marvel.

Infinity War Part 1 will hit theaters May 2018.
Infinity War Part 2 will make us wait no more than one more year. It will close out the story May 2019.

Perhaps it’s a very good thing too. In keeping with bringing canon to the big screen, The Infinity War is a bold and epic story to take on. The backstory to Infinity War is centered around the cosmic villain, Thanos.

Comic Book Writers Take Sides in Marvel Fox War

Marvel at war with Fox

Chris Claremont on the record, “No New X-Men”

(PCM) Did you know Marvel is at war with Fox? Sure it is. You just haven’t been paying attention or don’t read comics. When it comes to superheroes on film, Marvel screwed up. That’s putting it in politically correct words.

Years ago, before Superheroes were a big money maker on the big screen Marvel sold its soul, but they didn’t realize it.

In the mid 1990’s Marvel made both the smartest and dumbest move it could have in taking its properties to the big screen. They carved up the Marvel superhero universe and sold the ‘rights’ to specific franchises to various studios. For instance Spider-Man’s rights for his cinematic universe were sold to Sony.  Fox was sold X-men (mutants), Daredevil, and The Fantastic Four among others.

Since the time Marvel sold those franchise film rights it’s built it’s own Marvel Studios (parent … Read more

Thanks to all of you who saw (and are seeing) Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend, from the bottom of my heart. The Guardians are a group of oddballs, outcasts, and geeks. The movie is for anyone who ever felt cast aside, left out, or different. It’s for all of us who don’t belong. This Read more

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” Opened With a Bang On Thursday

Guardians_of_the_Galaxy_46(PCM) There has been a ton of hype leading up the open of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and for once the hype seems worth it.

Guardians of the Galaxy had the highest grossing Thursday night open in 2014 so far, grossing $11.2 million in 2D, 3D, and IMAX ticket sales, beating out some of the year’s biggest films like Transformers: Age of Extinction ($8.8 million) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (10.2 million).

While the summer is well known for being blockbuster season, the month of August has proven in the past to not be the peak of this season, but rather the tapering off, so it’s looking a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy could be one of the biggest August releases in years.

Scott Mendelson, who covers “box office punditry, marketing analysis, and film criticisms” for Forbes speculated that Guardians could earn as much as $93 … Read more
