It has been roughly three years since we have heard any news regarding the “Alien” film saga from director Ridley Scott. However, it now appears that there could possibly be a new film in the works. The “Alien” franchise has been in a bit of a mess since the last release of “Alien: Covenant” did not perform as well as expected at the box office. Many fans were unhappy with the film and most feel that it did not live up to its’ counterpart “Alien: Prometheus”. It also doesn’t help matters that the franchise’s home studio FOX was acquired by Disney. Ridley Scott is currently promoting his new HBO Max series “Raised By Wolves”, as well as, getting ready to resume filming on his next film “The Last Duel” starring Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Driver, but he says not to count out another “Alien” film. The new HBO Max series Raised By Wolves has just begun streaming and the series is already receiving a ton of praise from both fans and critics alike. The show is truly like nothing we have seen done before within the science fiction genre as it focuses more on the idea of relationships and humanity rather than gadgets and machines. This is definitely due in part to the phenomenal writing by creator Aaron Guzikowski. However, do not for one moment think that this series is not visually spectacular as well thanks to the visionary genius of co-creator Ridley Scott. Raised By Wolves also marks Scott’s first foray into the world of television as he is best known for his work on the infamous films such a Bladerunner and Alien to only name a few! The series focuses on a small group of individuals both android and human who have escaped from the destruction of planet Earth and are faced with a mission to recreate life on a new planet. HBO Max surely has a hit on their hands with the upcoming premiere of Raised By Wolves! The show was created by Aaron Guzikowski and Ridley Scott and focuses on the relationship between androids and humans after mass devastation has taken place on Earth. Upon watching we found ourselves immediately engrossed with the story and while it is chock full of science fiction elements the show itself is far from your typical sci-fi fodder. There is a much deeper thread that runs throughout this series, as it focuses on various aspects of human relationships, survival, religion and beliefs and so much more. It was also refreshing to watch a show that always keeps you guessing, as of right from the start you can never be just too sure of who is the hero and who is the villain and we found ourselves analyzing each and every detail looking for those answers, which are never made completely clear, as there are always two sides to every story. Regardless of whether it’s seen in IMAX or viewed in standard DCP, if one considers themselves a Blade Runner aficionado or simply excited to see what Mr. Villeneuve does to expand the Blade Runner mythology, they must make the effort to check this out so experiences like this ultimately “aren’t lost in time, like tears in rain,” to quote Mr. Hauer’s iconic final monologue.
