Amazon Reveals Netflix Model For Books

(PCM) Online retailer giant Amazon has recently revealed a new monthly subscription service which will provide users with access to thousands of electronic and audio books.

The new service is called the Kindle Unlimited Service and is available now for $9.99 per month. Once users have signed up they will be able to access over 600,000 electronic books, as well as, thousands of audio books.

The new services is modeled very similar to the ways of Netflix for film and television services. Kindle Unlimited Service is available on all Kindle devices and the Kindle app for iPhone, iPad, Android tablets, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, PC, Mac and Windows 8.… Full Story

J.Crew Receives Backlash For Offering A Size 000

(PCM) Clothing retailer J.Crew has received quite a bit of backlash from the public and several notable fashion bloggers for now offering clothing in a size 000.

The main criticism stems from the fact that many people are feeling that the idea behind vanity sizing has gotten out of control. The size 000 is the equivalent of a size 0 in both the U.K. and Australia. In case you were curious, vanity sizing is the process of retailers manipulating the sizes of their clothes to make consumers feel that they wear a smaller size in clothing.

A J.Crew spokesperson defends the company’s new size 000 clothing and claims that the decision had nothing to do with “vanity sizing”, but rather that the demand for smaller size clothing than they current offer was coming out of Asia, a market that runs notably smaller than many other countries around the globe.… Full Story

Redesigned iPhone Could Feature A Bigger Screen

(PCM) One of the major complaints from iPhone users is that up until now their phone screens have always been incredibly small in comparison to phones made by both Samsung and HTC which feature screens as large as 5.7 inches.

According to a new report, the updated designs for the new iPhone which are set to begin production will feature both a 4.7 inch screen and 5.5 inch screen options. The new iPhone’s are also rumored to be thinner and more rounded in shape that then current models.

Apple, the iPhone’s parent company has been facing a lot of pressure to continue sales growth and the company is hoping that with the newly redesigned phones they will be able to once again rise to the top of the smartphone industry.… Full Story

Looks Like Siri Has Met Her Mate…Introducing “Dom” From Domino’s Pizza

(PCM) Recently, Domino’s Pizza has partnered up with technology company Nuance to create “Dom”, which is a mobile voice to assist customers with voice-enabled ordering.

Much like Apple’s Siri, “Dom” can be called upon for the Domino’s Pizza iOS or Android app. You can vocally tell “Dom” how you like your pizza and he will assist you with creating the perfect pizza pie.

While we have not tried it out for ourselves just yet, sources claim that “Dom” has a very natural and humanlike voice and the experience is meant to be the same as if you were ordering the pizza by phone and speaking with a real human being.… Full Story

Coca-Cola Reveals 16 Crazy Caps To Turn Empty Bottles Into Useful Objects

(PCM) Coca-Cola teamed up with advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather China, to invent the “2nd Lives” kit that helps consumers turn empty Coca-Cola bottle into reusable objects.

The campaign features 16 innovative caps that can be placed on the empty Coca-Cola bottles to create objects such as squirt guns, paint brushes, bubble-makers and pencil sharpeners to name a few.

The campaign was initially started as a way to encourage people in Vietnam to start recycling, however the campaign is beginning to pick up steam in other parts of the world as well!

The campaign asks consumers to focus on the idea that Coca-Cola bottles never need to be thrown away and the proceeds to show consumers all the ways in which the items in the “2nd Lives” kit can be put to use.… Full Story

Arby’s Launches A 13-Hour Commercial For New Brisket Sandwich

(PCM) While, we are not really sure that anyone is going to spend 13-hours watching watching brisket cooking, but just in case that is your thing, Arby’s is willing to help you out.

After the company received numerous inquires as to whether or not their claim that the brisket on their new brisket sandwich is actually smoked for 13 hours, they have featured the brisket in their newest commercial. The commercial shows the entire 13-hour process of the brisket being smoked before it is then frozen and sent off to the individual restaurants.

Arby’s has created a special YouTube channel, called Arbys 13HourBrisket, and you can monotonously sit and watch the entire brisket smoking process for 13-hour straight.… Full Story

Krispy Kreme Unveils The World’s Most Expensive Donut

(PCM) How about a little Dom Perignon with your morning coffee? Delicious donut maker Krispy Kreme has unveiled the world’s most expensive donut and it not only features Dom Perignon jelly, but also features edible diamonds and 24k gold leaf and gold dusted white chocolate flowers.

Aptly titled the champagne donut, it carries a price tag of $1685 and is currently only available at one London department store called Selfridges. No use rushing out to your neighborhood Krispy Kreme looking for this delightful delicacy!

Big Changes In Store For Abercrombie and Fitch

(PCM) There are some big changes in store for clothing retailer Abercrombie and Fitch and we say it’s about time! The teen-geared clothing retailer has faced a ton of criticism and public outrage due to it’s scantily clad models, racist hiring policies, and club-like shopping atmosphere. These factors all contributed to a nearly 77% drop in profits which led the company and it’s CEO Mike Jeffries to introduce some big changes and hopefully win back some of their target demographic.

The stores will now no longer feature a night-club vibe with heavy thumping beats and probably the biggest change will be that the display mannequins will actually be clothed instead of featuring those oh so offensive ads on display.… Full Story

Nintendo Will Not Allow Gay Characters In Its’ New Game

(PCM) Despite a rather large social media campaign spearheaded by a fan, Nintendo says it will not allow gay characters or same-sex relationships in its’ new game Tomodatchi Life.

The game is a real-life simulation game features a cast of “Mii” characters living on a virtual island. If you recall, a “Mii” is an animated avatar based on actual people. The game will allow users to populate their island with the “Mii characters of family, friends or anyone else you can think of”.

The game is already a huge hit in Japan and is slated for release here in the States this June.… Full Story
