(PCM) The Godfather of Soul is getting the silver screen treatment in this summer’s Get on Up, a biography of the funky and talented James Brown.
Directed by Tate Taylor (The Help, Winter’s Bone), Get on Up explores the ups and downs of Brown’s life and career, detailing his rise to stardom. The film dives into James Brown’s incredible life story, taking a look inside the music, the moves, and the moods of the Godfather of Soul.
From an impoverished childhood to becoming one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Get on Up takes audiences on a an in-depth look into the life legendary James Brown.
Chadwick Boseman (42, Draft Day) stars in Get on Up as the legend himself, James Brown. Starring alongside Boseman are David Andrew Nash (The Truman Show, Flight), Nelsan Ellis (The Help, True Blood), Viola Davis (Prisoners, The Help), Octavia Spencer (The Help, Being John Malkovich), Dan Aykroyd (Ghostbusters, The Blues Brothers), Lennie James (Snatch, Colombiana), and Craig Robinson (Pineapple Express, This is the End).
It looks like director Tate Taylor could be attempting to recapture the chemistry that earned his latest film The Help four Academy Award nominations; a decent amount of the starring cast worked with Taylor on The Help.
