(PCM) Relativity Media’s drama/romance, The Best of Me, stars James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan and opens in theaters nationwide October 17, 2014.
Based on the bestselling novel by acclaimed author Nicholas Sparks, The Best of Me tells the story of Dawson and Amanda, two former high school sweethearts who find themselves reunited after 20 years apart, when they return to their small town for the funeral of a beloved friend.
Their bittersweet reunion reignites the love they’ve never forgotten, but soon they discover the forces that drove them apart twenty years ago live on, posing even more serious threats today.
Spanning decades, this epic love story captures the enduring power of our first true love, and the wrenching choices we face when confronted with elusive second chances.
Starring alongside James Marsden (X-Men, Enchanted) and Michelle Monaghan (Source Code, Due Date) are Liana Liberato (Trust, If I Stay), Luke Bracey (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The November Man), Sebastian Arcelus (House of Cards, TV’s Madame Secretary), and Gerald McRaney (The NeverEnding Story, The A-Team).
Michael Hoffman, veteran director of romaces/dramas/comedies such as One Fine Day (1996), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (1999), and The Last Station (2009), directed The Best of Me and wrote the screenplay alongside J. Mills Goodloe (Pride) and Will Fetters (The Lucky One).
